The need to fight Water hyacinth, an aquatic perennial weed on Ugandan waters, cannot be over emphasized. Certainly, it should be everyone's responsibility. This weed has had alot of implications on the environment, that almost every Ugandan has felt. There was a time when water levels on lake Victoria reduced significantly. The contribution of water hyacinth towards this phenomenon cannot be underestimated because it is known to increase the rate of evapotranspiration on the water surface where it is prolific. Economic activities like fishing, transport and Hydroelectricity generation are hampered by the deadly weed. This, therefore, presents an ardent need for concerted efforts to fight this enemy.

Pafor Enterprises (U) Ltd is making her fair share of the fight by removing it from the lake physically. We do not stop at removing it from the lake because once removed and pile nearby, they will either be driven back to the lake by the water waves or re-sprout. We, after removal, carry them (weeds) to our processing facility, the Uganda Industrial Research Institute, where we sort it and use it in the production of handmade paper. This way, it would require a miracle direct from God for this weed to get back to the lakes.
The handmade paper we make is then used to make beautiful paper bags which you can use as shopping bags, gift bags on your weddings and related functions. These bags are environmentally friendly. Other products include pen holders, calenders, photo frames and gift /jewelryt boxes.
